Our charitable organization for this meeting is the McKinney-Vento Regional Education Program with Richmond Public Schools. They serve students and/or families that are experiencing homelessness within Richmond Public Schools. Offering a wide variety of services from essential items from their resource closet (clothing, food, school supplies, household items, etc.) to ensuring students have adequate transportation to remain in their school of origin while experiencing homelessness outside of their school zone. Other things they provide are direct case management services, assistance with fees for graduation, field trips, SAT/ACT testing, college applications, etc. With the help of some community donors they are able to help families stay in a hotel a night longer, secure a storage site so they do not lose their belongings, secure an apartment with a security deposit, etc. During the 2015-2016 school year, we identified over 1,700 students experiencing homelessness within Richmond Public Schools. Each year the number resets and we start over in identifying and serving our students.
Parking at the meeting is included in your registration fee and will be provided at 8th Street Deck location at VCU. Additional information to follow to all registrants of the meeting. To download the Agenda and Registration Form, click here. Or Register Online
